• Once there was a field where cattle grazed, with a pond under some trees.
• Then the land was purchased. Two tennis courts were built and used by Addiscombe Methodist Church in 1926.
• A board was set up announcing that the First Free Church in Shirley was to be built there and that it would be for everyone.
• By 1931, our first building – a United Methodist Church – was complete.. Our first Minister, would be a young probationer, the Revd. H. Maurice Hart.
